How to make Cydia tweaks work on Pre-A7 devices i.e. iPhone 5S/5C running on iOS 7?

It has been about a week since the release of iOS 7 Untethered Jailbreak. Meanwhile, we saw many developments regarding the tool used to jailbreak iOS 7 i.e. Evasi0n7. First, the tool was updated to v1.0.1 making a fix then a Cydia package update was released for the update. However, still things look bit clumsy as far as issues after iOS 7 Jailbreak are concerned. It is observed that many Cydia tweaks are unable to run on iOS 7.

In A7 devices i.e. iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, the issue is quite significant and requires developers’ attention. There is no solution yet regarding ‘running Cydia tweaks on A7 devices’. The reason beyond this issue is Mobile Substrate. Cydia tweaks runs on the framework of Mobile Substrate which has not yet updated for iOS 7 jailbreak. Moreover as A7 devices i.e. iPhone 5S/iPhone 5C run on 64-bit chipset, there is no Mobile Substrate for 64-bit devices. The developer Saurik has promised the updated version of Mobile Substrate for 64-bit devices and are currently working on it. Still there are some tweaks that work correctly with A7 devices. Find out those in below video:

Now let comes to issue with pre-A7 devices i.e. iPhone 5. The main issue is same, of Mobile Substrate. However, since pre-A7 devices are not 64-bit hence you can solve the problem yourself. Follow these instructions to get Cydia tweaks working on pre-A7 devices:

  • Make sure you are running a compatible device i.e. pre-A7 device
  • Reinstall Mobile Substrate and Substrate SAFE MODE.

This will make Cydia tweaks working on pre-A7 devices. Both things should be done simultaneously using Cydia’s queuing feature. The above shown video also explains the instructions in detail.

Hope the solution works for you! Thanks to Redsn0w for bringing the solution. The users having A7 devices, just need to wait a bit for the updated Mobile Substrate version and will get the Cydia tweaks run on their devices.

Stay tuned to catch all the updates regarding all iOS 7 Jailbreak and issues regarding it!
