Mobile World Congress 2014 continues in Barcelona. With a quite eventful first day of MWC, the 2nd day seems to be bit dull. Most of the large tech companies like Samsung, Nokia, hTC and Sony have announced their products on the first day. However still there are stories which we can’t miss. Just a month back, we learnt that there will be no BlackBerry Messenger arriving for Windows Phone. But at MWC 2014 BlackBerry Press Conference, things went the other way.
Surprisingly, BlackBerry announced the BBM to be made available to Windows Phone and Nokia X platform in coming months. Here are the official words from the President John Sims of Global Enterprise Solutions, BlackBerry:
“BBM continues to grow in popularity as millions of people use our mobile platform for chatting and connecting with friends or colleagues, and we are very excited that we will soon welcome Windows Phone and Nokia X users to the BBM community,”
The users of Windows Phone and Nokia X will be able to enjoy features like:
- BBM Chats
- Personalization
- BBM Groups
- BBM Voice
- BBM Channels
- One-click sharing
- New Emoticons
BlackBerry Messenger is already there for Android and iOS. Although we see many messaging apps such as WhatsApp, WeChat and Line getting popular, still BlackBerry Messenger holds a high-standard business class people. Like other versions, BlackBerry Messenger will also be FREE for both Windows Phone and Nokia X.
Windows Phone will receive the messenger in this summer while as far as Nokia X platform is concerned, the app will come pre-loaded in Nokia Store for download.
