We previously talked about Persona 5 R on Nintendo Switch, and how the possible announcement of Joker in Smash meant that a full-fledged Persona 5 port could be happening on the system. It seems that Persona 5 R has had a domain update and there are other legacy signs from previous ATLUS IP’s that could suggest an announcement is coming. Very soon.
Persona 5 R on Nintendo Switch – Take your heart on the go!
As covered by Persona Central, there has been an update to the P5R.jp domain which now lists ATLUS as the owner of the domain. Previously it was believed that the domain was held by a company outsourced by ATLUS to prevent domain squatting. The site currently leads to a 403 – Access Forbidden so that means it is currently being worked on.
Persona 5 R is rumored to be a re-release of the highly successful 2016 JRPG which was previously exclusive to the Sony PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Currently, we do know that there is a strong chance of the game coming to the Nintendo Switch, but we can not be certain about the game being available for PC or Xbox One players.
When will it be Announced?
Persona Central also reported that we can expect the game to be announced at 2 possible events in the coming weeks.
The first event being a 1-hour special by the name of “Dark Sun… ” for the anime – Persona 5 The Animation that is set for December 30th, another possible event for the announcement could be the Persona Super Live 2019 concert which will also take place on December 30th.
That is definitely one way to ring in the new year.
All in all, we can hope that we do get a release date for the game at the announcement. Persona 5 is indeed a remarkable JRPG that impressed gamers all across the board. It will be right at home on the Nintendo Switch and deserves a re-release on a new platform.
We can hope that if there is new content for Persona 5 in its R release, Sony players do get a way to access that content, unless it relates to Nintendo exclusive items in the game.
