It seems that there is some good news for EA Games on Nintendo Switch. According to a curious listing on LinkedIn, an EA Software Engineer may have accidentally confirmed that the Frostbite engine commonly used in EA’s games like the Battlefield and the FIFA games has added support for the Nintendo Switch. While this does open up the possibility for more games from them, don’t expect Battlefield V any time soon, unless you want another ARK on your hands. Literally.
The Lack of EA Games On Nintendo Switch Might Soon Be a Problem of the Past
We know that EA has technically released 2 FIFA games on the Nintendo Switch, that still is a very small number when compared to the library offered on the PC, Xbox One and PS4.
According to the video, It seems that Frostbite Engine support has been added for the Nintendo Switch, but the problem again comes down to how demanding some of EA’s games are on systems and in the end remember that if you keep your expectations too high, you could end up with another Ark: Survival Evolved on the Nintendo Switch in your hands.
While you shouldn’t keep your hopes up for a Battlefield game unless it is highly toned down in terms of … everything, It still opens the door for other games like Dragons Age, Need for Speed, Mirrors Edge Mass Effect, Star Wars and other games that run on the Frostbite 3 Engine.
More importantly, it is not properly stated if it is the Frostbite 3 engine which has been ported. Perhaps EA will port older games that ran on Frostbite or Frostbite 2 on to the Nintendo Switch.
Many people have pointed out that EA handling the porting of the Frostbite engine is unlikely and that it is more believable that DICE should be handling the port of the engine to other platforms.
Keep in mind that this is all a rumor, and it is worth mentioning that this could mean more games coming to the Switch and being announced at this years E3 or it could possibly be an error on a profile.
