Nintendo recently held its quarterly financial briefings, in which the company shared their upcoming projects for shareholders. You can view the report by clicking the link, as it is publicly available information. It is curious that Page 7 of the document shares the current release dates for Nintendo’s IP’s coming in 2019. Page 7 shows us a look at Animal Crossing and Luigi’s Mansion 3 for the Nintendo Switch is comfortably in the 2019 window, there is bad news however as Bayonetta 3 now shows as TBA … Yikes.
Animal Crossing and Luigi’s Mansion 3 Secure a 2019 Release
Nintendo hasn’t been very Direct so far. As there was a lot of speculation for Nintendo to host a Nintendo Direct in April, which didn’t happen. We are still a bit in the dark about Nintendo’s first party games coming to the console in 2019. 2017 and 2018 were colossal years for the software and hardware giant, so now it seems we will have to wait till E3 2019 for more details.
Animal Crossing and Luigi’s Mansion 3 for the Switch were confirmed long ago by the company but failed to have any followup. Fans started fearing the worst, as Nintendo recently began development on Metroid Prime 4 from scratch.
Many fans were hoping this was only the case with Metroid Prime 4 and that the other studios working on Nintendo’s IP wouldn’t miss any big releases for 2019.
While it is disappointing to see Platinum Games’ Bayonetta 3 pushed to a TBA, we can only hope that we hear some details of the game at E3.
Luigi’s Mansion is a returning IP. Making its debut on the GameCube in 2001, with a sequel in 2013 for the Nintendo 3DS titled Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, Luigi’s Mansion 3 will see the game on Nintendo’s hybrid console which doubles as a handheld and a home console.
Details on the new Animal Crossing are scarce, but with Animal Crossing, you can never be disappointed.
We do know that we can count on seeing both games at E3 this year. Whether or not Nintendo will show us a glimpse of the games at an earlier Nintendo Direct is still the big question on everyone’s mind.
