It has been quite few months since release of iOS 8. However, still some users are complaining about issues with iOS 8 Wi-Fi. The issue is related to performance of Wi-Fi networks. Apple has not yet treated the issue completely. Therefore, the users are left in disappointment. But well, here is a good news! What if Apple is silent! The jailbreak community is well aware of your problems. Therefore, the developer named Mario Ciabarra known for his intelligent tweaks i.e. MyWi and My3G, has just introduced a new tweak. The tweak named ‘WiFried’ can fix your iOS 8 W-Fi performance issues.
The tweak allows you to enable or disable AWDL/AirDrop support using a simple toggle. As per Ciabarra, the possible reason behind iOS 8 Wi-Fi performance issues is,
I’ve narrowed down the issue to the use of Apple’s Wireless Direct Link (AWDL) that is used for AirDrop, AirPlay, and Gaming connections.
I’ll go out on a limb and say the WiFi issues are because of Apple’s choice of using Bonjour over AWDL and that, given the constraints of the WiFi hardware, this will be difficult to get right.
The developer has guessed right about the issue. And the tweak seems to have solving the issues on a number of devices. This will affect your AirDrop capabilities but well, having no iOS 8 Wi-Fi performance issues is more valuable.
Same sort of issues are also there on Apple’s latest OS X Yosemite. The reason behind that is also the same. Although there is no such tweak for the OS, but you can try fixing it manually here.
WiFried jailbreak tweak is available for FREE at Cydia’s BigBoss repo. So guys, does it fixes your iOS 8 Wi-Fi performance issues or not? Do tell us in your comments below.
