As time passed, many of the superheroes in the comic book died. But no one really know about them, as they are not usually depicted in movies or animated series. Those included many of the famous and invincible superheroes of all time. These dead superheroes may have revived, but there is a story of every one of them
Here is a list 15 dead superheroes with the description of their deaths.
Phoenix
Jean Grey, also known as the Phoenix and one of the founding members of X-Men has always been a little too powerful for her own good. After she turned in to a far much powerful mutant, known as the Dark Phoenix and destroyed a distant inhabited solar system of 5 billion people, she committed suicide so that she can prevent this from happening again. Later on it was revealed that she was alive and the Phoenix force has separated from her.
The Flash
The Flash died in Crisis on Earths in 1985 and remain dead for 20 years. Which is a huge time for a dead superhero to come back.
With this, he comes in our dead superheroes list.
Superman
The death of Superman was perhaps the most shocking death in the history of dead superheroes. This happened when Doomsday dropped Superman from a very great altitude and Superman died in the hands of Lois Lane. Although he was treated in the Fortress of Solitude.
Robin
Fans actually voted for Jason Todd’s Robin to die (cruel world). So he was murdered by The Joker in “Death in the Family”. Later it was discovered that Jason did not actually died and came back to fight the Batman as he did not avenged his supposed death.
Spider-Man
In the 700th and final issue of The Amazing Spider-Man, Spider-Man was killed as Dr. Octopus killed Peter Parker’s conscious and took over his body. He wasn’t revived until earlier this year in the Amazing Spider-Man # 1.
Captain America
Captain America died in the aptly titled The Death of Captain America story arc. In the story, he is captured by SHIELD after the Civil War and assassinated by Sharon Carter who was brainwashed and under orders by the Red Skull. He takes a position in the list of dead superheroes as well. Bucky Barnes took his place until the Cap returned in Captain America: Reborn.
Batman
Batman! Yes Batman! Also made it to our dead superheroes list. He was killed in Final Crisis story arc by an Omega beam after killing Darkseid. It turned out later on that he somehow survived the beam and travelled through time.
Professor X
Professor X, the person who brought the X-Man together in the first place, has died several times. Although the last and latest one was the most shocking when he was killed by Cyclops who was possessed by Phoenix. He gets resurrected every time though.
Green Lantern
The most famous of all the Green Lanterns, Hal Jordan, essentially died and then resurrected as Parallax. In this version he fought against his former allies. Later he returned to his Green Lantern state in Green Lantern: Rebirth.
Bucky Barnes
Bucky Barnes was to Captain America as Robin was to Batman. He went a lot of training to become what he became and even got his own costume. But like the movie, he died during a mission and returned as the Winter Soldier.
Human Torch
The Human Torch died in a 2011 issue of Fantastic Four while fighting aliens in the negative zone. He wrote in his will that after he dies, his place should be given to Spider-Man. It was later revealed that he was brought by ant-like-creatures and he had lost his powers while at the negative zone.
Supergirl
Supergirl also died a horrible death in Crisis on Infinite Earths, a comic that DC promised that will change everything and boy they were not joking! She died after destroying the Anti-Monitor weapon and later on Superman arrived at the scene to see the mangled body of his only blood relative.
Wolverine
Wolverine, the nearly immortal mutant, is our next candidate to be in the dead superheroes list. Marvel has promised something big in the final issue of The Death of Wolverine on October 8th
