Apple has just unveiled their new iPad and their current event is targeted towards academia, to help students and teachers likewise in implementing the iPad as an integral part of their learning. Apple also showed various Augmented Reality Applications that will further help students work on their academic tasks right on their iPad, check out all the AR Apps for iPad below.

These are the apps shown during the Apple education event
Boulevard AR
The app shows a painting in a classroom, you can zoom in on it, look at the painting up close and examine each brushstroke in real-time.

Free Rivers from WWF
This application from the World Wide Fund for Nature lets you observe an ecosystem on a table.
You can see how dams are built, how it impacts the river and more.
Forggipedia
This one is aimed at medical students or students that have an interest in Biology.
You can get an up-close look of the insides of Frog, see it labeled, right on the table.
Furthermore, you can even dissect the frog using the Apple Pencil, which is pretty cool.
