Apple has yet to announce so much on the WWDC14 but things still tend to get out before that. Well it’s Apple and the amount enthusiasts for latest are so much out there. Believe me I am one too.
But a lot of me and you, now let’s talk about Apple. The long awaited OS X 10.10 is said to be released this year. The expectations are high as the OS X 10.10 is rumored to get a big change. But according to Mark Gurman, that would not likely be the case. According to Mark, this “end-to-end” design will be Apple’s most inclusive design yet. Although the design would take attributes from last year’s design but would not change the essentials of OS X.
The OS X is codenamed “Syrah”, which will reportedly have sharper corners, more shite space and iOS 7 like toggles. For the past few years Apple has been bringing features of iOS in desktop OS. But on the other hand, Apple has also reassured its users that it will keep the two platforms/OS different from each other, despite the fact that some apps originated from iOS and ended up in desktop OS as well.
What features can the OS X 10.10 possibly have? It’s not that easy to say but a new design language, Siri support, AirDrop compatibility, a more feature filled iBooks app and a imminent-thinking file system are high on everyone’s list.
OS X 10.10 Syrah design language:
Last year Apple’s design team spent so much time working on iOS 7’s new look, OS X mostly got the overall look of it. And the intent was to always give OS X the attention it deserved not the attention it had.
Well now after the release of the Syrah, this should become a reality. Although it is unlikely that Apple will make Syrah a spitting image of iOS but it is highly likely that they will bring the same general design to Syrah. The design of Syrah needs to be unswerving enough that new users do not fell out of place but it also has to be different enough to make some clean sense as a desktop OS.
OS X 10.10 and Siri:
Siri, the well-known Apple’s personal digital assistant is still not yet brought to Mac. Reasons being unknown as to why it is not there yet. But can the Syrah move a step forward and finally get the attention of Siri itself?
OS X 10.10 and AirDrop:
AirDrop was the feature that came to Mac first and then by several attempts of complexities and failures, Apple finally introduced it in iOS7. But the version of iOS7 was not at all compatible with Mac.
Once the protocols of Apple are fully restored, they are highly likely to get there cross-platform AirDrop running.
OS X 10.10 iBooks:
iBooks came to Mac with OS X Mavericks but a lot of the functionality that iTunes already had did not came to the app.
Who knows with Syrah, Apple makes it a full featured app?
Well what is to come is yet to be lay eyes upon. But until the WWDC14 we can only wait for more rumors. Till then it’s bon voyage!
