Till now, we have learnt much about iPhone 6 and its components except the A8 processor. Apple is said to integrate its new A8 chip in iPhone 6. However, nothing has gone detailed regarding it. There were some rumors in the beginning claiming the chip a ‘quad-core’ one but well, Apple is not making such a big transition!
A new report of Chinese media has finally given some information about the new A8 processor. For the first time ever, Apple will be touching 2 GHz benchmark in its new chip. The new A8 processor will be having two cores, each frequency being clocked at 2 GHz or more! Exciting! This is almost the double of what we have seen in previous iPhone. Dual-core A7 chip was clocked at 1.3 GHz. Like A7 chip, the new chip will also be 64-bit.
Let’s move to the size of A8 processor. Well, it will be tiny than A7 chip. The new processor will be just 20-nanometre leaving behind 28-nanometre old chip. This will yield small transistors that will result in low energy consumption and effective performance.
In this age when even octa-core chips are being made for Android phones, this represents the Apple’s power and efficiency. The fine performance of latest iOS on dual-core chip and 1 GB RAM (iPhone 5S) indicates the efficient speed optimization of Apple. Surely, a fine victory over its competitors! Is not it?
