Apple has really amazed all of us at WWDC. For the first time ever, Apple has broken the shatters and put forward the Cloud technology. Online Cloud storage i.e. iCloud Drive has been introduced which enables you to sync data between your iPhone, iPad, Mac etc. This is not all, Apple has also brought CloudKit, a new tool for making cloud apps. This is, definitely, going to enhance the capabilities of the developers.
So what CloudKit will actually do? Well, from now on, Apple will handle the server-side elements of apps while the developers will be left with client-side. Hence they will be able to drop in features like CloudKit authentication, asset storage, database storage, search and notification. These will be handle directly by Apple, making the developers feel at ease. The only thing they need to work on will be app client code and logic. The developers can now more easily add the cloud components in their apps.
Like other such services, the CloudKit will also be having some limits i.e. 1PB assets, 10TB database, 5TB/day asset transfer and 50GB/day data transfer. This certainly is more than enough. But, what about the users whom want to go beyond limit? There will surely a plan for that too. However, the availability and pricing details have not been revealed yet.
We hope to get more details regarding the service soon. Along with Cloud services, Apple has also brought major innovations at WWDC.
