The not so popular Xbox app on Windows 10 is reportedly getting redesigned and renamed. The new name for the app will be “Xbox Console Companion”. If you have used the Xbox App you would know that it is not most convenient or smoothest gaming apps out there. The app feels tedious and cluttered. Needless to say that the Xbox app on Windows was in a desperate need of an overhaul.
The New Xbox Console Companion
As previously mentioned, the Xbox app would no longer be called by the same name but rather “Xbox Console Companion”. However, the change is not only limited to the name as we are told, major aspects of the UI and general usage of the app are also expected to be improved.
The Xbox app brings together your friends, games, and accomplishments across Xbox One and Windows 10 devices. The best multiplayer gaming just got better.
• Join clubs – or create your own – where you can go to play and chat with friends and other gamers like you.
• Find games with like-minded players by checking Looking for Group posts, or post one that fits your own objectives and play style.
• Get instant access to chat, sharing, parties, Game DVR, and achievements across PC and Xbox One. • Keep track of your game clips and screenshots and download them straight to your Windows 10 PC.
• Take the brakes off chat when you use a keyboard for messaging with friends on Xbox Live.
• Stream your favorite games and entertainment from Xbox One to a Windows 10 PC while using your Xbox One controller.
When you open up the app after the update, you are greeted with the following message.
Make sure that you are on the latest Windows build as the upcoming update of the app would require the newest Windows 10 update. The updated app will be available through the Microsoft store once its out.
We are expecting further details to be revealed at E3 2019 this month. What features would be incorporated into the new app are currently unknown. Leave me a comment below on what your thoughts are regarding the console companion.
