Almost all of us are more than familiar with BitTorrent’s uTorrent app. Just in case you don’t know what it does; uTorrent is the default client to download through the peer-to-peer file sharing network. We all must have noticed how uTorrent has not had any substantial update in the last few years except launching the uTorrent Web software.
But, with the arrival of the new uTorrent Web software, we can conclude that the firm has not been sitting idly. The desktop client has not been given an updated, and it’s users have been left waiting. But, the fact that the web browser-based version of uTorrent has a new big feature, makes up for the lack of update in the desktop client.
Video Streaming on uTorrent Web:
BitTorrent has come up with a new update that allows you to steam the torrent in the uTorrent Web software. The name, makes us think that it would be a purely web-based application, but, that’s not entirely true. Currently, users can download the uTorrent Web client and install it only on Windows (for now). Then, once the user clicks on a torrent or a magnet link, the uTorrent Web client will automatically open it in a browser window with built-in support for Chrome and Firefox.
This means that now, we can carry on using our favorite torrent sites, click a link and instantly have content streaming. This new video streaming feature is the highlight of the update and is clearly a game changer. And, most importantly, it works just as well as advertised.
BitTorrent still offers the basic uTorrent client along with the Web software. We can hope that this update comes to the original app as well. But for now, you can head on over here and use the uTorrent Web. This is the version that will most probably keep receiving development and updates!
