Every time there is an age of a video game genre which rules on every other genre. Last 2 years was ruled by Battle Royale which pretty much H1Z1 started but PUBG took the players by storm with its innovative gameplay and design, modification, gunplay etc. Fortnite also came into the field and destroyed every other Battle Royale game which tried to be its competitor. Activision is no less than any company who would try the Battle Royale and previous month they released the Open Beta for their very own first time ever, Battle Royale mode called Blackout and impressively it caught the eye of many players and after long period of time people are actually anxiously waiting for Black Ops 4 release or any news relating to the game.
The good guys at MeinMMO took an interview of Treyarch devs asking some of the interesting questions that were on people minds. One of them was how long the game will stay alive?
How Long Will Black Ops 4 Live?
This question is the most important one to ask, after asking about that if the game will continue when a new title will come next year Treyarch gave a very interesting answer.
According to the interview and devs,
MeinMMO: How will blackout continue when other call-of-duty titles come next year and years to come? Treyarch: We only do Black Ops every three years. What the other studios do is not known to us. But we continue this game here. MeinMMO: So as " Game as a Service "? Treyarch (David Vonderhaar): I do not like this term "Game as a Service" very much. But I understand what is meant. A game that you constantly continue and develop. We will do that for at least the next three years. If you look at Black Ops 3, we did not stop after a year, which was even updated a month ago. I guarantee that we will do the same here. We will finish it, we will update it and we will get the most out of it. MeinMMO: So I can expect at least three years with Black Ops 4? Treyarch: At least! You can still play Black Ops 3 today.
I think it is a very glad answer to the people who really enjoyed the Black Ops 4 beta including Blackout as well. At least people will now able to play on the server for not only 3 years but according to Treyarch, they will be adding more content to keep the game fresh and alive. If they really pull out some amazing things in Blackout I think it will put PUBG and Fortnite in danger. Not necessarily in danger but it will hurt the number of players the both Battle Royale giants have. Unlike the previous Call of Duty installments which ran for very short periods of time for like a year or so.
They also mentioned that Black Ops 3 will still be playable these days meaning the game also completing its run for 3 years.
It will be a really hard road for Treyarch to do so and I think they will do just fine if we compare this upcoming game with previous CoD titles.
