The Game Awards is one of the most exciting gaming event in recent times. Every year, since 2014, the event acts as a platform for people to come together and appreciate the best that the gaming industry has to offer. The event usually takes place at the end of the year, so that it can include all the games that came out. And the The Game Awards 2018 will be no different.
This location and date for The Game Awards 2018 have been confirmed by the host of the game awards Geoff Keighly himself, via his twitter account. His tweet states that The Game Awards 2018 will be held on December 6th and in the city of Los Angeles, California. The location and date continue the trend of hosting the event at the end of the year and in Los Angeles, as the previous three events have all been held at the end of the year and in the same city.

The Man behind The Spectacle
Geoff Keighly has long been associated with the gaming industry, particularly with gaming awards and ceremonies. He was a part of “Cybermania ’94: The Ultimate Gamer Awards”, which was the first ever gaming awards ceremony that was televised. Although not a critical success, the event prompted Keighly to move towards making a grander stage of appreciation for video games. He then worked on Spike TV’s “Spike Video Game Awards”. The event however, ended in 2013. After this, Keighly created the award ceremony he had envisioned, and it was The Game Awards.
The Awards
The ceremony itself is considered by some to be the Academy Awards of Video Games, or at least that is what was envisioned when they were created. There are awards in many different categories such as Game of the Year, Developer of the Year, Best Role-Playing Game, Best Fighting Game, Best Role-Playing Game and Best Fighting Game, among others. They even have an Industry Icon Award, to appreciate the efforts and contributors of legendary video game developers and designers. The Game Awards 2018 will be no different. In fact, Keighly and his team want to make them the biggest production yet.
