Spider-Man Homecoming success has made Sony to revisit it’s plans for Cinematic Universe based on Marvel Characters. Previously, the spin-offs to Spider-man movies were put on hold after the fatal flop of Amazing Spider-man 2. There isn’t really a need to explain what a spin-off really is, but for you guys, I’ll do it anyway. Spin-off is actually a program (of any kind) which is derived from a movie or anything. So basically it’s connected but not like a previous or a next part.
So there’s some pretty interesting news about the diversity of spin-offs being derived from Spider-man Homecoming. This movie is actually a springboard for more than a few spin-off movies which involves the characters from it.
Sony is planning on using different styles on each of those films. Right now, only two spin-offs have been announced yet. So let’s see how diverse they both are.
Spin-offs based on Spider-Man Homecoming Success:
One of the two films is Venom. And it is going to be a horror movie. (YES!) The second one is Silver and Black which is about Silver Sable and Black Cat, two women at war but also needing each other. Sounds complicated, right?
Venom is a Tom Hardy film, directed by Ruben Fleischer with Columbia Pictures president Sanford Panitch. “I’ve always been drawn to the more antihero superheroes. There’s a dark element to Venom and a wit that has always appealed to me,” said Fleischer.
Silver and Black is directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood who called this a buddy film. “I wanted to tell the story of two damaged women who are at war with each other but need each other to survive,” she said.
Well so far these Sony films or/and spin-offs sound really interesting, I wonder how venomous is the horror movie going to be! Fingers crossed everyone!
