Sony has just released the latest PS4 Software update for the consoles. Sony has been in hot water for the past few weeks on account of Anthem bricking PS4 consoles. The PS4 Software Update 6.51, however, does not offer any protection or prevention against this problem and rather states a rather underwhelming “This system software update improves system performance.” changelog.
News and rumors regarding the upcoming ability to change player’s PSN ID started circulating last year, however, no decisive date has been announced yet. The latest update offers nothing of the sort right now and according to online sources, the feature might go live in the second quarter of 2019.
PS4 Software Update 6.51 Update Notes
As mentioned earlier, there is not much to look into regarding the new update. Unlike the last update that introduced the ability to enjoy Remote Play on iOS devices and more, the latest update introduces unspecified improvements whatever they may be.
In contrast, the last update offered at the very least something new useful,
You can now enjoy Remote Play on iOS devices. You can use(PS4 Remote Play) to connect to your PS4 system from devices such as smartphones and tablets. Download(PS4 Remote Play) from the App Store
You can now choose 720p when you broadcast using Niconico Live. This service is available only in certain countries and regions
You can now change the button assignment to perform “Enter” operations from thebutton to thebutton. Select(Settings) > [System], and then select the checkbox for [UseButton for Enter].This option is available only for specific countries and regions.
It seems like players will have to wait a little bit more to see any practical system update. Let me know in the comments if you have any thoughts regarding the latest update.
