Shenmue 3 is by no means a game that needs an introduction. Fans were eager to play the game on August 27th, 2019, and while the game has now faced a delay, it is still releasing in 2019. The new release date for the game is now November 19, 2019.
Shenmue 3 is still coming, just a few months late
In the latest Kickstarter update for the game, Yu Suzuki and Deep Silver just shared news of the game getting delayed from the original release date of August 27th to November 19th, 2019.
Hello Everyone,
Today, Yu Suzuki & Deep Silver would like to give a message concerning the release date.
Shenmue III will now release on 19th November 2019.
[before] August 27, 2019
[new] November 19, 2019
Whilst almost ready, the game simply needs a little more refinement before being truly finished.
We feel that the extra time we have will help us deliver the true Shenmue experience players around the world deserve!
We thank you for your patience and understanding,
Yu Suzuki & Deep Silver
Fans of the series have waited well over a decade for the story of Shenmue to continue, and the game managed to get a third entry in the series funded via Kickstarter. You can see that the crowdfunding campaign was a massive success raking in 69,320 backers, and all of them pledged $6,333,295 to make the game possible.
Keep in mind, that the game is being delayed well before the anticipated release date, and with a game like this holding exceptionally high expectations, I am sure a small delay if needed to polish the game a little further, is definitely necessary.
While Shenmue 3 is slated for the PC and PS4 later this year, the first 2 games have gotten re-releases on current gen consoles for people who didn’t own a Dreamcast to get in on the hype.
If you are still waiting for Shenmue, trust in Yu Suzuki and believe that the extra months will be well worth the wait. If you can wait the most part of a decade for a sequel, a little bit more patience will do you well.
