Shenmue 1 and 2 are classic titles from SEGA, that came out on Dreamcast and Xbox. These have been re-released on current generation consoles including Xbox One and PS4, and also on PC. Now it seems SEGA might just consider Shenmue 1 and 2 for Nintendo Switch as well.
Shenmue 1 and 2 for Nintendo Switch
The news comes from TGS 2018, where Japanese website 4Gamer used the moment to talk with Eigo Kasahara and Hiroji Noguchi, who is the localization producer and localization director on the Japanese version of the composition and members to emphasize that the team consider a port for the Nintendo Switch as well.
In the interview, they asked both Eigo Kasahara and Hiroji Noguchi if it would be possible for the game to be ported and how much demand there is given the success of the game on consoles and PC.
SEGA has also been taking surveys from players if they would like both games on the Switch as well.
From the Interview
Hiroji Noguchi: “Personally I think it would be nice to play Shenmue on Switch everywhere … (laughs)”
Eigo Kasahara: “I do not know if it can be done, but I take note of the views of the supporters. Even if answering this request, I would like to consider it.”
This shows the interest of the developers as well and we’d very much like to play these games on the go as well.
The Nintendo Switch’s library grows literally by the day, and we wouldn’t be surprised at all if the games make their way to the console as well.
