Sea of Thieves is an upcoming action-adventure cooperative multiplayer game that features a cross-platform play between Windows and Xbox One consoles. The game is being developed by Rare and published by Microsoft Studios, the game uses a shared world gameplay where players will encounter each other in combat, embark on various quests and collect loot. The Sea of Thieves Closed beta has been listed and will run from January 24th to 29th, 2018.
Eligibility
- Players that have either pre-ordered the game or taken part in the Insider Programme before 1st December.
- If you have pre-purchased the game, it will appear in your library 24 hours before the beta so you can preload it.
- If you have pre-ordered a physical version of the game through a retailer, you will need to redeem the code for the Black Dog cosmetic pack. Once you have done this, the game will appear in your games library 24 hours before the Closed Beta begins.

Yes. The Closed Beta will not be covered by an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) so you can stream, capture, clip and screenshot to your heart’s content. If you do create content, make sure you tag it “Sea of Thieves” so we can see it too – we’ll also be sharing some of our favourites on our social channels and website. We are incredibly excited to see the content you create and the stories you tell!
