A new Samurai Shodown action game has been announced for mobile devices by SNK. The franchise which is primarily known for fighting games will now be making use of other Japanese action game elements and expand on it for the mobile devices. So far, no actual gameplay has been shown, but you can watch this reveal trailer for the game below

The game will be available for testing in China during sometime May.

The franchise is going away from it’s fighting roots towards an action game style with role-playing elements, which is much better suited for mobile devices, these are the features in the game.

  • Multiple classes including Swordsman, Ninja, and Maiden.
  • Fighting alongside characters from the series such as Haohmaru, Ukyo Tachibana, and Nakoruru.
  • An innovative control scheme
  • Communication-deepening guild system
  • Stress-free quest feature

Additionally, famous Japanese voice actors such as Saori Hayami, Ayane Sakura, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, and Jun Fukuyama will be working on the game.

The game makes use of a card tap based system, where each card symbolizes a different attack (melee, ranged and special), tapping various cards quickly after one another will let you execute longer combos and execute longer cutscene moves as well, which most Dragon ball fighting games are known for. The demo which was shown during Google’s presentation at Game Developers Conference showed different Dragon Ball characters including Goku, Piccolo, Frieza, and Nappa.
