The last Splinter Cell title came out back in 2013, and it’s entirely skipped this generation so far. Now it seems that a few details have supposedly leaked for their next big thing.
This is all in rumor territory, so take it with a grain of salt.
Splinter Cell: Fifth Freedom Leaked
The leak comes from 4chan, and if you have any past experience with leaks, you’ll know there’s a 50/50 chance with these things.
Gameplay details and a few other things supposedly leaked with this post
- 2 Playstyles (Offensive & Stealth)
- 21 Linear Story Missions (Multiplayer & SplitScreen Coop)
- 16 Side Missions (Multiplayer & SplitScreen Coop)
- Spies vs Mercs (Multiplayer, Lan & Competitive)
- Extract and Escape (Multiplayer, Lan & Competitive)
- Defuse or Eliminate (Multiplayer, Lan & Competitive)
- Special destructible Spies vs Mercs Maps with deployable/destroyable LightSources and Traps which allow for heavy team-oriented fights.
- Mercs can build traps & fortifications, camera’s and turrets while spies can hack environments, power grids and merc gadgets and sabotage supply crates.
- Classic Ingame Voicechat, Discord/Teamspeak 5 voice Integration
- Michael Ironside returns as VA.
- Bluebyte is apparently developing it with Ubisoft Barcelona
- Reveal at The Game Awards
None of this has been hinted or confirmed in any way, and there are a bunch of fake 4chan posts out there.
This one almost sounds a bit believable and given how The Game Awards are right around the corner, and Geoff Keighley recently announced that there are 15 new game announcements.
We’re very excited to see what is shown at the awards show and hope Splinter Cell is one of them, even if this leak isn’t accurate at all.
Ubisoft titles have a history of leaking early, and if this leak really is true, we wouldn’t be surprised in the least.
