Red Dead Redemption 2 is a Western-themed action-adventure game developed and published by Rockstar Games. The game received a lot of critical acclaim, and fans of the franchise are expecting a PC version as well. As rumors and leaks keep piling up, another piece of source code suggests Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC is definitely a thing.
This doesn’t confirm or deny anything, but Rockstar hasn’t explicitly mentioned that we’ll never see a PC version and even suggested that it wouldn’t be too hard to do.
Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC found in Code
If you head over to the source code of Social Club here, you’ll find that it clearly has the following line of code confirming both the existence of a PC version, and it’s achievements/accomplishments. This was pointed out by Twitter user JakoMako51 and it’s honestly a very good find.
Here’s a screenshot of the specific line of code, that points to the PC version
Now, as far as leaks, and rumors go, this is one of the more believable ones. Social Club is Rockstar’s official application that keeps track of player progress, including their achievements, friends and various other settings. The mention of a PC version in the source code of this application could highly suggest the existence of a PC version of the game.
Rockstar hasn’t confirmed or denied a PC version so far, and we’re hoping to see it launch on PC as well so that it can run at even higher framerates and resolutions, with even higher graphical quality.
We don’t see a reason why Rockstar wouldn’t want to bring the game to PC, as it would sell quite well, as GTA V’s PC version did.
