LG is all set for an event on 27th May. At which, the company will announce LG G3 officially. The media folks have now laid their attention to the upcoming LG event. Meanwhile, other LG handsets continue to receive latest Android firmware updates.

Recently, LG G2, the predecessor of LG G3, has received the Android 4.4.2 update. The update is now available on all LG G2 handsets via OTA. If you have upgraded your LG G2 handset to the official firmware, you definitely would have lost the root access. Well, in this case, you surely need to root LG G2 on Android 4.4.2 firmware.

Here we bring you an easy and simple guide to root LG G2 on official KitKat update. Till now, in almost all of our Android root tutorials, we have made use of CF Auto root tool. But to root LG G2, we will use IORoot tool. Through this tool, the process is more simple and easy.

Before you begin rooting, you need to consider some points i.e. pre-requisites. Don’t miss to consider even a single pre-requisite as it can damage your device. Here is the list of pre-requisites:

  • The procedure is for advanced users only.
  • Rooting will void your device warranty. In order to get warranty back later, you need to flash the Stock Android ROM.
  • Download and install the LG G2 smartphone USB drivers.
  • Make sure to enable Debugging Options for your device. Head to Settings to do so.
  • Your LG G2 handset should have more than 50% battery before you begin the tutorial.

  1. First of all, download the IORoot file from here.
  2. Extract its contents and save it to a folder on desktop.
  3. Connect your device with PC via USB cable.
  4. Head to the folder you created on desktop.
  5. Run the ‘root.bat’ file.
  6. Follow the onscreen instructions shown at the Command Prompt.
  7. After following, press ENTER and wait for the process to complete.
  8. Check out App Drawer for the Superuser app to confirm if root is successful.
  9. Otherwise, follow the whole tutorial again.

You have now successfully rooted your LG G2 handset. Now, you can install customs ROMS to enhance your experience.
