PTCL has finally introduced PTCL fiber optic FTTH packages to compete with StormFiber, FiberLink and Optix. Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) can be named as one of the biggest internet service providers in Pakistan. Most of us Pakistanis, encounter PTCL connections every day, whether it is at home or at our workplace. PTCL is not really known for the speed of its internet connection, or its stability, but somehow they still manage to expand their consumer base.
PTCL has several devices and packages that you can subscribe to in order to start using the internet. They have a variety of portable device. These portable devices include the Evo Wingle USB, and the Charji Evo device. But, PTCL’s modem is what they are known for the most.
PTCL’s CEO Daniel Ritz, in an interview with ProPakistani, announced some new broadband packages and future plans of PTCL about fiber optic internet. According to Ritz, the company will be investing a whopping 27 billion in the next couple of years to upgrade its current network. The company’s existing copper customers will be able to enjoy speeds up to 20Mbps after the upgrades. In addition to that, PTCL plans on laying out a fiber network which will allow us to utilize speeds up to 50Mbps and 100Mbps.
PTCL Fiber Internet Packages
Package Name | Speed | Price | PTCL Calls | PTCL Smart TV |
5 Mbps Unlimited | 5 Mbps | PKR 1,999 | Unlimited | Available |
10 Mbps Unlimited | 10 Mbps | PKR 2,499 | Unlimited | Available |
20 Mbps Unlimited | 20 Mbps | PKR 2,999 | Unlimited | Available |
50 Mbps Unlimited | 50 Mbps | PKR 3,999 | Unlimited | Availale |
100 Mbps Unlimited | 100 Mbps | PKR 4,799 | Unlimited | Available |
PTCL provided 50 Mbps and 100 Mbps speeds before this too, but they were only available to corporate customers and were priced as high as PKR 10,000+. Even though the new packages can be considered progress, but PTCL has taken very long to make 50 Mbps and 100 Mbps available, whereas even our neighboring countries have had these speeds for years now. (And, at a lower price!)
But, with all that said, this is still a very welcome news. That is due to the fact that a lot of people only trust PTCL with their internet needs. This availability of faster internet will hopefully benefit online businesses, and in turn, Pakistan’s economy. This also puts PTCL Fiber in direct competition with other FTTH providers operating in Pakistan, including FiberLink, StormFiber, etc.
Feel free to tell us what you think about these packages!
