It been quite a while since the rumors and news about the release of Intel’s 8 Cores, 16 Threads Coffee Lake S is wandering around. But there has not been any kind of confirmation when it will be available. First it was expected to be launched at Computex 2018 but still there was no sign of it in the event. However the 8 Cores, 16 Threads Coffee Lake S has been spotted on the Sisoft Sandra Database.
Intel 8 Cores, 16 Threads Coffee Lake S Processor:
Rumors are that the architecture for the 8 Cores, 16 Threads Coffee Lake S has not changed so there will be more risk of meltdown. It is suggested that a Z390 chipset motherboard should be used for the upcoming processor because of the exhaust function needed to help lessen the meltdown possibilites. However it will work on all the motherboards belonging to the 300 Series. The 8 Cores, 16 Threads Coffee Lake S spotted on Sisoft Sandra database is an engineering sample having a clock speed of 2.6 GHz. However the officially launched processors will obviously have more base and turbo clock speeds with better performance.
The engineering sample shown at Sisoft Sandra database gave up that the desktop version will use 95W of power where as 80W would be used by laptops. The 8 Cores, 16 Threads Coffee Lake S processor is having 16MB of L3 cache and 2MB of L2 cache. No further details were given out so this is all we have right now.
Intel Core i7 8800K and Z390 Chipset Motherboards:
The Z390 chipset motherboards are intended to support the upcoming Intel’s 8th generation Coffee lake processors. They will also be compatible for the next generation processing chips. These motherboards have up 6 USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports, upto 24x PCI Express 3.0, using LGA1151 sockets. Also having Intel Wireless AC 802.11ac and bluetooth 5. It would be best combo to use with the upcoming Coffee Lake S processor. For updates on the upcoming Intel Core i7 8800K 8 Cores, 16 Threads Coffee Lake S stay tuned.
