For all of you people who have been living under a rock your whole life or just don’t care, if you’re wondering why is Pokemon GO so famous and why is every you know who’s over 20 seems to be so crazy for it all of a sudden let me give you a Pokemon 101.
Pokémon consists of two main things first being Pokémon themselves and the other is Pokémon trainers who catch these wild Pokémon, train them and battle against other Pokémon trainers.
The Concept of Pokémon popped into Satoshi Tajiri’s head in 1990. The idea seems to be a derivative of Insect Collecting.
Pokémon started as a series of games published by Nintendo and developed by Game Freak. These games became crazy famous and later grew into a giant of a franchise making more video games,comics , animated shows and movies and the list goes on.
They sold over 200 million copies of games. Pokémon became the worlds second most successful game based franchise.
20 years after the first game was released Pokémon GO finally came our way, so you can imagine the hype. Its the first game ever that lets us realize our dreams of being a Pokémon trainer in an augmented reality. I mean just the thought of finding a Pikachu on may way to the store makes my trip exciting.
But there are a few things that you cant do yet.
You can’t battle wild Pokémon to catch them, you cant battle other Pokémon trainers right now as well, but even without it the game is still really fun. Future updates might include these features. You can still battle at gyms though when you reach level 5 and go to Pokéstops.
Another thing that this game lacks is “Team Rocket”. I mean no Pokémon universe is ever complete without Team Rocket. But anyway we still love the game as it is anyway.
