PlayStation Exclusive Title Agent Trademark Officially Abandoned by Take-Two

in 2007, we were just given a glimpse of the memorable logo of Agent. A game that would be made exclusively for the PS3 and developed by Rockstar. As the years went by we saw other games we never thought would see the day of light eventually come to release. Kingdom Hearts 3, The Last Guardian, and Final Fantasy Versus XIII rebranded to Final Fantasy XV are only a few examples to name. According to the US Patent and Trademark Office, the Agent Trademark has expired and is now up for grabs.

As the Agent Trademark Expires, The Games Fate is Sealed

We never did get to see head or tail of Agent. It was only through a leak last year where some environment concept art leaked unto Reddit, but that is just about all we will ever know about the game.

Considering that the Trademark has been abandoned by Take-Two interactive, this could mean that we can rule the game out of seeing of a PS4 release, or ever.

We never did learn much about Agent itself, the most we ever knew about the was it would be set in the Cold War era and would center around counter-intelligence and the dangerous world of espionage.

We never even saw official trailers, screenshots, or any other media for the game. The landing pages are still present on Rockstar’s website, but its only a matter of time before those are removed as well.

This is a sad day for gaming as one of the most iconic games of what could’ve been a superb game on the console is finally laid to rest.

On and off, Take-Two did renew the trademark almost every year for the game, but there was never any affirmative action from the company otherwise to acknowledge the game was even alive at this point. It’s better off at this point that we hope to see the IP revived with the PS8 or PS9, if ever.

Until such a time comes, all we can do is wonder and wish.
