NVIDIA’s GPU Technology Conference is going on right now in San Jose. The keynote address by Jensen Huang, the CEO himself was tonight and he announced new Graphics card called the Quadro GV100 GPU.
NVIDIA’s New Quadro GV100 GPU:
Last year NVIDIA released a GPU focused on Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning computation, the Tesla V100. It was based on the company’s Volta architecture; which was specifically designed to understand, optimize and facilitate AI based projects. Just today NVIDIA announced a new workstation GPU that surpasses its predecessors. The Tesla v100 and Titan V themselves were beasts when it came to computational power. According to the address, the Quadro GV 100 will be even better than them.
Quadro GV100 Specifications:
The is world’s first workstation GPU based on NVIDIA’s Volta architecture. In addition, it is the first card featuring NVLINK2. NVLINK is NVIDIA’s GPU interconnect technology which allows linking of multiple GPUs to fasten the computation. The 2.0 version is reportedly faster and more efficient.
Quadro GV100 is a fascinating, extremely powerful professional GPU that has a built in memory of 32GB. But that’s not enough. It can also be scaled upto 64GB using the NVLINK technology. This technology will allow merging two GPUs to make a single giant graphics processing unit. This combined GPU beast will have 10,264 Cuda Cores and 236 Tera Flops Tensor Cores. For deep learning, this card features 118.5 teraflops of power. This shows the extreme capabilities of the Quadro GV100.
This announced GPU has Ray Tracing technology. Ray Tracing is a technique that makes graphics more realistic. The shadows, colors, effects like smoke and rain will be more realistic than ever. Because of the extremely high level of resources it requires, Ray Tracing has not been featured in GPUs. But NVIDIA’s Volta GPU architecture’s strength allows them to include this technology with the new card. The following video shows the power of Ray Tracing.
Quadro GV 100 Release Date and Price:
According to NVIDIA, the GPU will be released in April 2018. We do not have an exact number for price. However, this card is definitely going to be out of range for all gamers. Stay tuned. We’ll keep you updated about the price and more specs.
