Those of you who have experienced online gaming on Nintendo Switch probably know that it is not the most secure service out there when it comes to cheaters. In early July this year, an issue was raised by the Switch community highlighting the problem with the game “Splatoon 2”. Splatoon 2 is an online shooter game which has been infested with hackers who manage to modify the ROM and create invincible weapons. Nintendo’s Anti Cheat System has thus far been unable to contain this problem.

The problem with the said game arises primarily because the server relies on what the client tells it, in this case, hackers have easily modified the ROM in order to gain an advantage over other players in the form of powerful weapons that are not constrained by the rules of the game.

In August this year, Nintendo announced and implemented an anti-cheat system which was supposed to curtail the problem. Nintendo’s Anti Cheat System did manage to reduce the number of hackers but that was not for long as today just one day prior to the launch of Nintendo Switch Online, hackers have successfully defeated Nintendo’s Anti Cheat System and a specific hacker has placed himself on the number one rank.

A tweet from Brock.com yesterday also brought attention to the problem. The tweet consists of a short video clip in which it can be easily seen that a player is hacking.

Moreover, in an other tweet, oatmealDome shared a Gamertag of a hacker who as we previously said has managed to climb to number one rank through the use of hacks.

We think that Nintendo should get serious about the hacking situation which is apparently very rampant. Especially with the Nintendo Online service launching tomorrow which is going to be a paid service Nintendo should start working on the issue as players might not want to pay for a service where hacks are pervasive.

This is all for now, be sure to come back for all the latest news and rumors.
