It seems that there’s some bad news for people that are interested in the homebrew of Nintendo Switch, we have written tons of articles showing how much the Nintendo Switch is capable of and the various emulators it can easily do. But it seems that Nintendo Switch Update 6.20 Homebrew will no longer be a thing.
Nintendo Switch Update 6.20 Homebrew dead?
One of the experts in the Nintendo Switch homebrew and hacks scene, is SciresM, who has commented on the recent Nintendo Switch Update 6.20 that it has totally rewritten how the console boots up and users that are interested in the homebrew utilities of the console, should avoid updating the console, here is the quote by SciresM
He also tweeted out this
New Switch firmware introduces huge changes to key generation — looking forward to cracking it 🙂

Now, here is where things get tricky, most users who actually use the Homebrew, want to stay legit as well, make use of Switch games, buy games online, play the multiplayer etc, but it seems that if you don’t update your console anymore, Nintendo will make the eShop inaccessible, as the grace period of 7 days till you can update your console has also been removed.
What’s more fascinating is how technically impressive this is on Nintendo’s end, they basically fixed a hardware issue by a software update, rewrote how their boot process worked and forced users to update their consoles.
It makes sense for them to do so, as we’re sure that upcoming games will also require updated firmware, forcing players to update their consoles to enjoy the new titles.
This won’t obviously stop hackers from trying to break this though, and there’s a good chance that they will, but till they do, the users that want to access Nintendo Switch’s primary features, will need to update their devices.
In other news Shadow of the Tomb Raider is announced for macOS and Linux.
