We have news that Nintendo is planning the next iteration of the popular Nintendo Switch console. The news comes from Tokyo where suppliers have commented that the existing Nintendo Switch is not able to keep up the sales it once enjoyed in the initial year of release. To keep the demand steady, Nintendo has planned to release the next Nintendo Switch 2019 with enhanced specs such as a better display.
This move makes sense from a financial point of view since Nintendo Shares in the stock market has seen a somewhat significant decline. As opposed to its initial year of launch, the console, although still selling, is not able to keep up in terms of economic viability.
However, it is still undecided what features Nintendo would add to the Nintendo Switch 2019. People close to the action have suggested that next year’s Switch might see an upgrade towards a better more brighter display such as the OLED ones we see in smartphones. Currently, Nintendo Switch features an LCD display that lacks some of the current industry standard technologies.
Nintendo Switch 2019 Possible Release Date
It is not yet known exactly when we can expect the next Switch as people inside the company refused to comment, however, we have it on good authority that the said console could see a release in the second of half of next year.
Since the release of the Nintendo Switch back in 2017, Nintendo has sold 19.7 million devices. To keep this momentum rolling Nintendo needs to come up with a revision which, by the look of things, is exactly what is going to happen. We must say that Companies such as Sony and Microsoft wait an average of 5 years before releasing updated models of their console and hence it appears unprecedented that Nintendo is going to release the next Switch 2 years after the original one.
According to Nintendo, the company wishes to sell another 20 million devices next year. Analysts have commented that such a figure is quite possible when Nintendo releases some of the titles planned for release late this year such as Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
There is a good reason to believe that if a revised Nintendo Switch were to arrive next year as the data suggests then that Nintendo Switch wouldn’t be the last one by any means. In a comment, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto, who has worked on many Nintendo titles, said that he wanted the Switch’s life cycle to be longer than usual, suggesting next year’s update of the hardware may not be the last.
Whatever Nintendo plans to do with the console next year we are sure that it would be an instant success just like the current Switch. For now this is all we have for you, be sure to leave us a comment below and tell us what you think should be added to Nintendo Switch 2019.
