Things have already started to seem good for Motorola as we speak. Motorola released more than a couple of gadgets on its event. They were the Moto X, Moto G and the Moto 360. News is that the new Moto X supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 standard and Motorola will be releasing a compatible charger soon. The charger is named as the Turbo Charger.
The company did not really bring this product to the limelight at the event. This was found on the company’s website. This was the source of the announcement of the Turbo Charger and the news that brought it into existence. The Turbo Charger claims to juice a (particular) smartphone battery up to 8 hours of usage in 15 minute of charge.
The charger is powered by Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 technology that started rolling out to phones via the company’s most recent SoCs earlier this year. While Sony and HTC already have this technology built-in there flagships, this announcement also added second generation line up of Moto X and Moto G in the list. And Motorola decided to sell their own Turbo Charger to help you take advantage of it.
The Quick Charge 2.0 in the Turbo Charger pushes a whooping 60W of power to the device and charges its battery 75% faster. The Turbo Charger can be used on unsupported devices too but for those it only delivers 15W of power.
The Turbo Charger is going to cost you $34.99 but if being able to charge your phone to have 8 hours of life in just 15 minutes, it is worth it. And yes, as mentioned earlier, the charger does not support all devices, but can however be useful as an extra on-the-run charger.
There is no word yet on when will the charger might be released, but it is still on the “coming soon” status.
