It’s been some years the Microsoft Office for iPad was in rumors and now after so much anticipation Office for iPad is finally here. Microsoft introduced it to the world in Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella’s first press briefing in San Francisco this morning.
The office for iPad is designed specifically for iPad. Presenting and viewing a document is free in Office but an Office 365 subscription is required to edit the documents. Office for iPhone was released last year and now it is being updated to make it free for home use. iPad Office version contains many new features than Office for iPhone. iPad version includes support for re-flowing, formatting, and touch handles. It will include Word, Excel and PowerPoint with ribbon UI which is very much similar to Windows and Mac version of Office. But “This is definitely not the Windows app ported to the iPad,” according to White.
Chart Recommendation is used in Excel, with the ability to preview live renders of charts that automatically update from data within the spreadsheet cells. Documents viewing will be supported from device and Microsoft’s OneDrive service. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said “It’s a beautiful set of applications,” and “That’s our real commitment to Office 365, everywhere.”. Microsoft is taking office to different platforms through Office 365. 3.5 million people are subscribed to consumer versions of Office 365 and Microsoft wants to increase that number by introducing Office for iPad.
Office for iPad is available today to download from the App Store.
