Mass Effect: Andromeda is an action adventure role playing game set to release on March 21 and March 23 this year in North America and Europe respectively. The game will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows.
For those who don’t know about RPG (Role Playing Games), these are the kind of games in which you are introduced to an open world with a character to control i.e. the player himself. You make choices you like, explore as you like it, interact with NPCs (Non-player Characters) as you move through the stories. In many RPGs, the endings are based on the choices you make during the game so it’s basically another virtual world for you to live in.
Some awesome RPG suggestions, not that anyone asked, are The Witchers 3 and the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Mass Effect: Andromeda is the 4th game in Mass Effect series. It’s the only announced development by BioWare relating this series since 2012. The game is available for pre-order now!
Gameplay and Campaign
So, as any other action RPG requires, you take control of a character, which would be Sara or Scott Ryder in this case, in a third-person perspective. You will have to customize the name or appearance of the player as you like. Totally different from it prequels where you had to choose from six different classes with different skills for your player, in this part you yourself assign skills to your player and build yourself towards a specialty as you play through the game.
Beginning in 2185, right between the even of Mass Effect 2 and 3, the game portrays the Ryder other than your choice of character as a protagonist.
Navigation and Exploration:
Riding in the Tempest, your ship, you explore the wonder of Andromeda Galaxy. There would be open world planets, some of them filled with unsuitable conditions, to explore in your all-terrain compatible vehicle i.e. Nomad. In your way of exploration, you will collect different items or raw parts for customizing or crafting your weapons and armor.
Combat
Combat of Mass Effect: Andromeda deserves to be mentioned here because of it being totally different from the prequels of the game. The combat in Mass Effect: Andromeda is totally real time. You can’t pause the game to use powers or set aims. You have the open battlefield for you to move in every possible direction including against the gravity using your jetpack. Taking cover is set automatic, damage is done by gun fire, melee attacks or powers (3 can be equipped at a time with each having cooldown) as usual.
Dialogue
Like its prequels, or like any other RPG for that matter, there would be NPCs for you to interact and agree or disagree too. Some of the choices you make relating these NPCs can totally change the storyline for you.
