Coursera
Coursera is an app that offers more than 1,000 courses from 140 universities around the world, including Stanford, University of Michigan and several other renowned names in education. The courses offered here are of a much wider variety encompassing subjects like engineering, humanities, biology, business, computer science etc, and ranging from programming languages like Python to medical neuroscience.
Coursera has made these courses available in different languages and it also awards certificates at the end of the courses, attracting more than 24 million registered users.
Udemy
Udemy is a platform that is mainly aimed at professional adults who wish to add new skills to their CVs. Udemy offers over 45,000 courses of numerous categories; music, personal development, design, marketing, business are some examples.
Some of the courses available on Udemy are free, whilst others are paid. Udemy also provides a platform for its users to become instructors, by creating their own course, promoting it and earning money through it. These instructors can also engage and interact with the students via online discussion boards.
