After the recent arson burn tragedy happened to Kyoto Animation, the company is opening a bank account to receive donations for individuals and from companies withing Japan
You might probably have heard about the recent arson fire tragedy happened in Kyoto Animation studio. Shinji Aoba, the man suspected to set the fire in the studio which took the lives of 34 people and left many injured. The fire was quite deadly as it not only killed many important people but it also destroyed a lot of digital and paperwork of the studio. The company has opened a bank account to accommodate the losses of the studio through donations. The donations will be accepted from individuals and from companies in Japan
Kyoto Animation Arson Attack
The attack was carried out last Thursday. According to the officials, the fire was spread by Shinji Aoba, a person who was suspected of depression and who carried out the fire because he felt like it. Police revealed that 34 people were killed, 13 of which were men and 21 women, making it the deadliest outbreak of violence in Japan in recent memory.
CEO Details on Company’s Losses
After the tragedy, the company’s president Hideaki Hatta spoke to the Japanese media and detailed on the losses of the company. According to him, the arson focused everything available in the first studio everything which was in the 1st studio ended up getting destroyed. Including all of the paperwork, computers and other materials. The company was working on many anticipated titles like Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2, Violet Evergarden Movie, an untitled Free! Movie and much more.
He also confirmed that the other three studios of the company were safe and did not affect from this tragic event. He was completely devastated from the event,
“I am deeply heartbroken. I can’t bear it. I never even in my dreams would have thought such a large disaster would happen…This is a serious blow to our company and our industry. Every one of them was an excellent and wonderful colleague.”
Kyoto Animation Opens Bank Account for Recovery
To cover up some of the losses, Kyoto has opened a bank account where the individuals or the companies in Japan will donate to the company.

Sentai Filmworks GoFundMe Campaign
After the tragic event, Sentai Filmworks has started a GoFundMe campaign titled “Help KyoAni Heal” to raise funds for Kyoto Animation which gathered 1.4 million USD in 24 hours. As of now, 2 million USD has been collected so far. The original goal was to collect 750K USD.

I’ve been a fan of anime created by Kyoto Animation and I am really heartbroken after hearing this news. Let’s all hope Kyoto animation recover as soon as possible and don’t let this arson attack hold them back. Getting back on the track will surely take a while.
