Death Stranding is quite possibly the most anticipated upcoming title from legendary video game director Hideo Kojima. With every Kojima title, there’s tons of speculation, rumors, leaks, and theories, and the waiting game has a lot of twists and turns. Now Kojima Productions has trademarked both “Social Strand System” and “Strand Game”.

We’re unsure what these trademarks are exactly for as there is no description for them, but it’s safe to assume that because of the social element of them, these are possibly related to some sort of companion app.
The trademarks have been filed for a “downloadable game program and others”, so we’re assuming they’ll be available as a downloadable program.
Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain both had their respective companion apps that helped players use their idroid on their phones.
Death Stranding will have some sort of online component to it, it has been confirmed by Kojima himself, so we’re guessing the “social” part of the trademark comes from that.
Companion Apps have become a trend in modern video games, that can facilitate the player while navigating through the world. Red Dead Redemption 2 has a companion app that allows you to use the mini-map on your phone, set markers and more.
This could also just be a way to contextualize the multiplayer aspects of the game and possibly name the game system.
What do you make of these trademarks by Kojima Productions? Are you excited about the game? Let us know in the comments below and share your thoughts.
