The PC modding community has just released the Dragon Quest XI Orchestral Overhaul mod to enjoy all of the available orchestral variants of the songs present. The music is composed by Koichi Sugiyama and performed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. Completes the following steps down below to install the mod.
Dragon Quest XI Orchestral Overhaul Mod Details
The purpose of this mod is to enjoy every moment of the game by applying all of the orchestral variants of the songs present in the game.
Note: You have to follow the instructions thoroughly in order to avoid any problem and for smooth installation of the mod. This guide will not include any means to download the raw music or anything like that, we condone piracy and do not support in any way. If you want to listen to the songs you will have to purchase the official Symphonic Suite albums.
So, let’s just start.
Steps for Installation of the Mod:
Note: You will need a torrent client to download the mod files. Head over to google and download any BitTorrent client or any torrent downloading software.
1. Download Links for Mod

2. Installation
There are two methods for installation of the mod.
- Method 1 – Installation of just the mod
- Method 2 – Installation of both mods and Special K.
Method 1:
- Download and extract the 3 7z files from the torrent links listed above. You can extract the 7z files by using either WinRAR, 7-Zip although 7-Zip is recommended due to compatibility issues. Extract the files to the destination which is readily and easily accessible. (You cannot use the files outside of the game)
- Next, locate the folder with the game with the help of Steam, simply right click on the game in your Steam Library, select Properties -> Local Files -> Browse Local Files and the game’s folder will open.
- Now simply go to the folder where you have extracted the files from the torrent and you will see three folders in the Dragon Quest XI Orchestral Overhaul Mod folder which are:
- FMV
- Injector
- Music
- Drag and drop the contents of each folder into the main install directory. Allow if asked for overwriting and for best possible experience overwrite.
- DONE!
Method 2 (for Special K Mod)
Follow these step if you already have or want to install the Special K. Both of the mods will render if you follow these instructions exactly in the order.
- Download and install the Special K latest version for Dragon Quest XI. Installation steps are mentioned down below.
- The Visual C++ 2017 runtime is a required pre-requisite. Download and install in your system
- Download this archive from Github. (up-to-day until this date)
- Extract it to your game’s install directory (steamappscommonDRAGON QUEST XIGameBinariesWin64)
- DONE!
- Find your Dragon Quest XI installation folder and go to the folder where you have installed the Special K Mod. (steamappscommonDRAGON QUEST XIGameBinariesWin64)
- Find and rename the dxgi.dll file to d3d11.dll (Very important step).
- Install the Orchestral Overhaul Mod as mentioned in Method 1.
If you already have installed Special K then:
- First and foremost make sure you have the latest, up-to-date version of Special K.
- Follow Steps 2-4 from above.
- BOOM and Enjoy!
Mod Deactivation
Follow these steps if you do not want the mods anymore or just want to uninstall them.
- In order to deactivate both of the Orchestral Overhaul and the Special K mods just go to the Win64 folder and remove all files except the game’s .exe file. The file integral to the Orchestral Overhaul Mod is the dxgi.dll which is our custom Mod Injector.
