Arriving at the topic at hand, it turns out that PC gamers have been experiencing some performance troubles as well as some graphical issues in the game. We tackled the performance bit in this article here. Now I will show you how to Fix Resident Evil 2 Washed Out Colors problem which is apparently a very common problem that players have reported.
How To Fix Resident Evil 2 Washed Out Colors Problem on PC
If you are experiencing washed out and vague colors on RE2 PC (look at the screenshot below) then there is a very simple solution to fix the problem. After tinkering with the settings a bit and searching gaming forums, I figured out why people have been complaining about this.
Apparently, this problem is caused because many tend to leave their “Display settings” on default in the game. In Resident Evil 2, it is necessary that you tweak the display settings from options in order to achieve accurate colors. Here is how you do it.
- Set the minimum brightness one step lower than the game requests or else the brightness calibration will not work correctly and the colors will seem off.
The settings used for sRGB are:
1. Maximum Brightness: 1 below the maximum
2. Minimum Brightness: The lowest setting
3. Brightness: -6 from the center (5th marking from the left)
Once you have calibrated the sRGB settings as instructed above, your game should look like this.
Moreover, another tip is to leave the “film noise” setting enabled to prevent posterization/banding in the shadows.
Try out these fixes and let me know in the comments if they worked for you.
