Red Dead Online is currently available as a separate game for $5 on all major platforms. PC players can choose between Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Rockstar Store, each with its own clients. Players that are interested in the single-player can also purchase it through the game as well. Now, if you are on the PC version, and are running into the Red Dead Online not launching, here is how you can fix it.
These issues become common with each new update, whether that is related to an update from Rockstar, or NVIDIA and AMD. Most of the time, these issues are fixed using the same few methods that we have already gone through. It is a bit frustrating how often this game breaks with each update, but that seems to be the case for now.
Red Dead Online not launching issue
Multiple users all over Steam forums have reported that they can’t seem to launch the game, even when they could before. Now, there are a few suspicions, and one of those is related to a new NVIDIA driver. You can try the following methods to see if it works for you.
Downgrade you NVIDIA Drivers
- Download the NVIDIA Drivers version 457.51
- Uninstall your latest drivers, and installed 457.51 instead
Try relaunching the game and see if that works for you
Verify Red Dead Online game files
Find Red Dead Online or Red Dead Redemption 2 in your Steam library
- Right-click on it, and select Properties
- Now, open the LOCAL FILES tab
- Here, click on VERIFY INTEGRITY OF LOCAL FILES

These methods should ideally work for you, if not, you can try reinstalling the game. We are hoping that both Rockstar and NVIDIA release more stable updates. Furthermore, if you have any pending Windows updates, make sure you check those out as well.
