Imperator: Rome is a grand strategy wargame developed and published by Paradox Interactive, which was released on 25 April 2019. It is the sequel to Europa Universalis: Rome, released by Paradox in 2008. The game is currently only available on Windows and MacOS. Imperator Rome offers both a single player mode and a multiplayer mode. Today, I will be showing you how to fix Imperator Rome Windows 7 compatibility issue.
Imperator Rome is a newly launched game and as such is bound to run into a few problems. Currently, the game is said to crash at startup and in some cases not start at all, solutions for both of which can be seen here and here. These issues will most likely be resolved in an upcoming patch but for now there a couple of things you can try to mitigate the problem.
As the title suggests, the game has a problem with Windows 7 where it shows a d3dcompiler_47.dll error and won’t start. This happens because there is a certain Windows Update that is required by the game in order to be played on Win 7.

The Windows update in question is a Platform Update for Windows 7 which enables improved features and performance on Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. Make sure that you do indeed have Win 7 SP 1 installed before you install this update. Download link for the update is provided below.
