It has been a few days since Ubisoft released the Technical Test of their upcoming battle royale game Hyper Scape. The game main mode shares the same elements as of a typical battle royale game, featuring 99 players who are dropped in a single map where they will have to survive till a last player or team remains. The map shrinks and stuff but there’s more. As it is not a full release, players have been facing issues in the game like connection issues. Here’s a brief troubleshooting guide to fix Hyper Scape connection issues on PC.
The guide includes multiple methods that you can try to fix the connections issues on PC. If you’re, however, still face any issues after following the troubleshooting methods make sure to make a thread of official Ubisoft Hyper Scape forum. Without any further ado let’s get into the troubleshooting guide to fix Hyper Scape connection issues.
Troubleshoot guide to fix Hyper Scape Connection Issues on PC
Method 1 – Resetting your Router/Network Hardware
The most obvious step comes first, as you might try to reset your modem or other network hardware. Sometimes simple solutions can resolve frustrating issues. Make sure:
- Unplug your LAN cable from your system or turn off your PC/consoles completely.
- Turn off your router/network hardware and let it off for a minute or two.
- Plug back in the LAN cable and turn the router/network hardware on.
Resetting your network hardware allows it to re-establish a fresh connection to your ISP.
Method 2 – Resolving Software Conflicts
One of the few reasons for the lag is sometimes in the background some software uses the internet for updating/downloading files which takes up a portion of the internet that cause lag. To resolve any software conflict you can try:
- First and foremost make sure your proxy settings are correct.
- Update firewall software.
- Make sure the Windows firewall is up-to-date and the current Windows version is updated.
- If updating doesn’t work try to make an exception of the game executable file and Uplay in the respected firewall software.
- Disable all unnecessary background apps before running Hyper Scape. You can use the popular Razer Cortana software for this purpose.
Method 3 – Enabling UPnP
Some people have suggested that enabling UPnP has helped them resolving connection issues in Hyper Scape. UPnP stands for Universal Plug and Play and allows applications to automatically forward ports. Since there are like countless routers, it is nearly impossible to write a guide for every article. To enable UPnP you will have to check the user manual of your router or you can consult your ISP.
Method 4 – Flushing DNS
You can flush your DNS simply to try to improve connection. DNS stores IP addresses of websites and may have stored bad information. To flush DNS you can:
- On the desktop right-click Windows button on the bottom left
- Search for the command prompt and right click on CMD and run it as administrator.
- Type in the command
ipconfig /flushdns
Method 5 – Resetting Your Host Files
What is host files? You might wonder well, host files is a small text file created by the Windows OS. It can be used to route online traffic or sometimes block a website. It should be cleaned or reset so that you can rule out this possibility that might be causing connection issues on your system. Here’s how you can reset host files on Windows 10:
- Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
- Find the file hosts in this folder and rename it to hosts.old
- Create a new default hosts file:
- Open a word processor of your choice. Notepad and WordPad should be pre-installed with your operating system.
- Copy and paste the following text into a new document:
# Copyright (c) 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp. # # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows. # # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name. # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one # space. # # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol. # # For example: # # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host # localhost name resolution is handle within DNS itself. # 127.0.0.1 localhost # ::1 localhost
- Save the file as a plain text document in the same folder as the hosts.old under the name hosts. The file extension should be *.txt.
- Close the wordprocessor
Method 6 – Port Forwarding
Port Forwarding makes sure that your router firewall doesn’t interrupt your gameplay connection. Port Forwarding is a lengthy process you can see the full guide from this link. When you forward ports, you will need to set a static IP for your PC for more details click here.
The ports that are needed for Hyper Scape are:
TCP: 80, 443, 50000 – 52000
UDP: 3074, 30000 – 32000
Method 7 – External Restrictions
A possible case of connection issues can occur due to external restrictions. A few examples where a person can face these issues include a university campus, a shared connection, a military base, or more. You will have to contact the respective ISP or network administrator for removing restrictions.
Hopefully, you will be able to play the game after following these troubleshoot guide. Let us know if any of the methods helped in fixing Hyper Scape connections issues on PC down in the comments. The technical test will finish its run tomorrow, July 7, 2020.
