Final Fantasy 7 Remake has been leaked for quite some time. While Square Enix has been swift to remove videos and streams of the game from YouTube, Vimeo, etc. It still didn’t have the power to stop early copies from playing the game and sharing screenshots. However, as Reddit user, final_fantagzy, has just finished their first playthrough, we now have a number on how long your first playthrough of the game could be.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Is indeed a very lengthy game.
The remake is something that people have been excited for. The rest of 2020 is going to be a slow year with the recent delay of The Last of Us Part 2, and making us question whether or not Ghost of Tsushima will also follow suit. With Cyberpunk 2077 also slated for a late 2020 release. Final Fantasy 7 Remake is one of those games you’re going to enjoy for months while waiting for your next gaming fix.
According to the Reddit user, their first playthrough (18 chapters) lasted roughly 35 hours. This included sidequests and other stuff they did along the way:
Keep in mind, the trophy list will certainly make sure you have your hands full. If you played the demo, you already have an idea of what you’re in for. Considering the demo didn’t even have a hard mode option, you are definitely going to be in for a bad time if you are looking for an easy platinum trophy.
Your first playthrough on Normal should take you around 30 hours. This will be intentional or unintentional as most of your time will be spent exploring the detailed and wonderous world of Midgard and more. Adding in cutscenes and more, and 35 hours is an easy number to reach.
The Good News … and The Bad
What makes the platinum slog a little more tolerable, your collectibles are saved and there is chapter select. You can hop in and choose what chapters to play when you replay the game. This means if you have already done a challenge or minigame in a certain area or a trophy requirement, you don’t need to repeat it. Chapter select also makes it easier to access level specific trophies to tackle.
If you are aiming for the platinum, this can easily be 100 hours or close to it. Depending on whether or not you choose to play the game on Hard on your first try. It could be challenging on the first go, but it would mean you don’t have to play through the same story two different times.
The amount of sidequest related trophies is also in no shortage, so you’re going to be spending a lot of time in the game world anyway. My recommendation would be to give the game a try at hard for your first playthrough, It will be difficult no doubt but once you get the hang of the game, you will eventually figure things out as you go.
LIke how Call of Duty players start their first playthrough on Veteran difficulty to make the Platinum runs easier, it can’t hurt to try, right?
