What would be the first though in your mind when someone would say “Hannibal”? Well probably there would be a cannibal (human flesh eater) person with a contraption on his face, right? Well then you have seriously mistaken. Although the cannibal part is correct.
The person who created this series, Bryan Fuller, has somehow managed to pull off the unconceivable by making a television series around Hannibal Lector. This series might not be better for some who have watched films, but it is certainly just as better.
The character of Hannibal Lector is originated from Thomas Harris’ novels. I do not know how the character is portrayed in them, but I can rest assure that you have not seen a “Hannibal” like this before. The beauty of the series is that it gets better after every week. There is a new suspense, a new turn in every episode. You can always expect the unexpected. However, it airs in primetime on NBC and features the worst and most horrifically incongruous images ever seen on TV, including HBO.
The Hannibal Lector we see in the show is nothing like the one The Silence of the Lambs. The later was portrayed my Anthony Hopkins, and he did it well. But he did not have privilege of getting out of the cages. But this Hannibal has the honor of visiting the crime scenes himself with the F.B.I. This has been played by Mads Mikkelsen, and I assure you it has been beautifully.
Hannibal a notable psychiatrist, is brought in by FBI to aid a special investigator Will Graham, which has been played by Hugh Dancy and is his best role ever. Will Graham is a special kind of specialist, he can reanimate any murder case in his mind. And that is process is just the beautiful thing ever, in terms of cinematography and visual sequences. Otherwise it is gruesome.
Little the authorities know that the man they are trying to catch is the one right under their nose. Hannibal has its own manners and etiquettes of doing stuff. He even makes a man eating another man look disturbingly good. The series has got everything, drama, horror, suspense, love, betrayal and what not.
If you do not believe my thoughts about the show, then have a quick Google search and you will find countless articles and blogs that prove my point.
