Guerrilla Games are responsible for Horizon: Zero Dawn, one of the best recent single-player open worlds games to come out on the PS4. The company has a history with shooters, like the Killzone franchise and now it seems that their upcoming project will feature multiplayer elements.
Unannounced Guerrilla Games Multiplayer Title
Simon Larouche, director of Rainbow Six Siege, was hired last year by Guerrilla Games to work on an unannounced title. Given his history as a director on an entirely multiplayer title like Siege, it makes sense that the company’s next or at least one of their next titles is a multiplayer game. This is further confirmed today after Simon posted a job listing for a Java Developer, with a caption “So it begins”
The job position requires the person to be fluent in Java, and capable in working with a large code base. Now, the interesting stuff in this job listing is the requirements, that are specially catered for someone who can work with multiplayer games. Here are some of these
- You will build a robust backend that can scale up to serve many concurrent users;
- You will work on systems like matchmaking, tournaments, clans, and leaderboards;
- You will cooperate with game designers to achieve the vision for the game;
- You will work on systems to test and deploy a new server set without downtime;
- You will integrate the game servers with the PlayStation Network and other third-party services;
All of these are directly related to multiplayer games and the mention of PlayStation Network pretty much confirms that it will be coming out as an exclusive for PlayStation consoles, most likely PS5.
We’re unsure what kind of multiplayer game this will be, but it does feature clans, tournaments, and leaderboards, which are pretty much present in every multiplayer game these days.
Sooo, it begins! Come work with us 😉 We need a #JAVA expert… https://t.co/ecFQahtmkN and while we are on this subject, this might trigger some interests and tickle your Java-Senses: https://t.co/4Pt7dk8oU8
