According to Aki Saito, Kojima Productions Head of Marketing & Communications. In the demo that was shown exclusively to Guerrilla Games today, it seems that the studio was shown the first 2 hours of the game, and the tweet also further states that Death Stranding is still not complete yet. Could this mean a 2019 release but in the end of the year or are we going to hope for a 2020 release?

Death Stranding Might Just Keep Us Waiting

It seems that a tweet from Aki Saito has told us further details about the demo shown to Guerrilla Games today since Hideo Kojima is using the Decima Engine to build the game. The engine was created by Guerrilla Games and is being used for developing Death Stranding. It was only a matter of time before Hideo returned to the creators of the engine to show what he has done with it.

The translated tweet reads as follows:

Showed the first 2 hours of gameplay to our Guerrilla brothers. Yes, Hideo was demonstrating it! (The game is not fully completed…yet)

2019 or 2020 Release Date? Place Your Bets!

While Norman Reedus did hint at a potential early 2019 release for Death Stranding, it seems that if the game is still unfinished or not near finished, we can safely say the game will either target a Holiday 2019 release date or Q4 2019 release date to give the most optimism to fans eagerly waiting for the game, or even more so, a 2020 release date.

Considering Hideo Kojima skipped The Game Awards for the first time off his own accord, which is an unusual occurrence for the game’s mastermind, we can only wonder what lies in the future of Death Stranding.

We definitely won’t see Death Stranding at this years E3 since Sony will not be on the attendee’s list, so we will have to watch other shows with a careful eye, especially the ones which will take place in Japan or Tokyo. Could this be the year for Nintendo and Microsoft to steal the show?
