Google announced today that it will not update Google Chrome on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich anymore. Chrome was first made available for Android Ice Cream Sandwich.
Since then, 24 versions of Chrome has been shipped and now Google will not update Chrome on devices running Android 4.0. Chrome 42 will be the last version running on Android 4.0 devices and after that users can continue to use Chrome but no new updates will be released for older version of Android.
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and newer versions of Android will continue to receive updates.
In the last year, we’ve seen the number of Chrome users running ICS drop by thirty percent. Developing new features on older phones has become increasingly challenging, and supporting ICS takes time away from building new experiences on the devices owned by the vast majority of our users. So, with Chrome’s 42nd release, we’ll stop updating Chrome on ICS devices. After Chrome 42, users on ICS devices can continue to use Chrome but won’t get further updates.
