Ever thought of having the whole virtual world in front of you? Well to be frank, I’ve given a thought about to that too. And rumors have it that Samsung has given a though about it too. And Samsung being Samsung, did whatever they could do of the matter. There was news that Samsung was working on a virtual reality headset about a month ago. Well the rumors are true. Samsung is working on Gear VR which will have such capabilities.
It was reported that Samsung was join forces with Oculus in developing a VR headset. In response, Samsung was providing Oculus with next generation OLED screens. Oculus is a company which deals with all kinds of virtual reality tech. Even the about us page of the company’s website states “self-described virtual reality enthusiast and hardware geek”. That pretty much sums it all up.
The bargain was that Oculus will provide virtual reality software development kits that will aid Samsung in bonding software experiences for the VR headset. There are no updates of the headset as yet. Although it is said that the VR headset may not run on Android. Samsung is trying to make something big out of it.
Samsung is trying to target the whole audience out of it. It does not plans to spoil all the fun of keeping it just to the gaming part. It plans to give its customers something they are longing for. The company has thought of making the Gear VR in such a way so that it can be used for entertainment and media purposes as well.
Samsung is said to be considering a dockable device that uses an existence smartphone display as the screen. Anyone planning to buy the Gear VR should be having $400-$500 to purchase it.
