After the explosive launch of Galaxy Note 7 last year, Samsung has finally launched the much awaited Note 8. The newly launched Note 8 brings us an amazing camera setup, and a number of other cool new features. While a lot of people were concerned with the hardware of the device, Samsung introduced latest versions of their apps. If you are someone who is not willing to spend $930 on the smartphone but still wants to make use of the cool apps, we can help you get a taste of the new Note on your Android devices!
Now, you can download and install Galaxy Note 8 apps on your old Samsung and Android devices, all thanks to an XDA developer. The only catch is that your Android device has to be running Android 7.0 Nougat or a newer version of Android. Here are the 19 apps that the developer has ported in this tempting package:
- Phone and Contacts
- Incall UI
- Browser
- Clock
- Calendar
- Messaging
- TouchWiz Home
- Edge Lightning
- Task Edge
- People Edge
- Air Command
- S Finder
- Samsung Themes Store
- Smart Manager
- Keyboard
- Gallery
- Calculator
- Weather
- Live Messages
The developer of this port, AlexisXDA, stated that the new Camera app and the Always-On Display are yet to make this list because of certain bugs. He has also promised to fix said bugs and add these two apps in later versions.
How to Install Galaxy Note 8 Apps on Your Android Device
- Download the zip (link attached below)
- Uninstall your current Samsung Browser and Samsung Calculator
- Go into recovery and press install, select the zip file downloaded and flash it
- Reboot and enjoy!
An important thing to remember is that this voids the warranty of your device. Hence, you should proceed on your own risk. AlexisXDA warned us and said, we should keep in mind the “problems caused by root like tripped knox…When you flash something like this you may know about the risks you are going to find in!”
You can download the port zip file from here. For further instructions and details, head over to this XDA thread.
